I graduated from Kennesaw State University (cum laude) with degrees in Human Services and Psychology in 1993 and from Georgia School of Professional Psychology (Argosy University) with a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology in 1996. Professional growth and development and lifelong learning have been and continue to be priorities for me.
I have completed Levels I (2001) and II (2002) of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing) training and was Certified as an EMDR therapist in 2006. I am currently working to renew my Certification.
I spent many years working in non-profit and state agencies providing forensic and clinical services to children and families from 1994 through 2003.
I opened a private practice in January of 2004 and have provided services to clients across the life span (ages 3 to 85) in a private setting since that time.
I utilize EMDR as my primary therapy tool. I also utilize Motivational Interviewing, ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), Mindfulness, and Narrative Therapy. I include a focus on somatic experience (information that comes through the body) as the body and the brain are both repositories for our experiences and are always sharing information. I view my work with clients through a developmental lens and from a strength based perspective.
I have also been a trainer and consultant for several years in the areas of Child Abuse and Trauma.
